Jim Phillips, Jr.
Jim Phillips has litigated complex business matters in federal and state courts across the United States. He has led the defense of significant claims for violations of the federal and state securities laws and claims alleging professional negligence against national and regional accounting and law firms. Phillips has also litigated numerous intellectual property and trade secrets cases and cases involving contracts, real property, employment issues, tax issues, defamation, construction issues and a variety of business torts. He also served as chairman of the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina. For three years, Phillips served as legislative counsel to former North Carolina Governor Jim Hunt. He is a UNC and Wake Forest University graduate. The Lexington native is an attorney with the firm of Brooks, Pierce, McLendon, Humphrey & Leonard, LLP.
