The Honorable James Holshouser, Jr.

A Watauga County native and former governor of North Carolina (1973-1977), Gov. James Holshouser spent four terms in the N.C. General Assembly, where he was vice chairman of the House Judiciary and Rules Committees. As governor, he served on the Executive Committee of the National Governors Conference. He is a member emeritus of the Board of Governors of the University of North Carolina, where he chaired the personnel and budget committees, as well as the search committee that recommended UNC President Molly Broad. The UNC-Chapel Hill law graduate has also served on the Board of Trustees of Davidson College, his undergraduate alma mater. Holshouser is a Pinehurst, N.C., resident and senior partner in the Sanford Holshouser law firm.
