The Honorable Tim Pawlenty
Gov. Tim Pawlenty was elected governor of Minnesota in 2002. He fought for and passed a dramatic overhaul of the state's education standards, significant welfare reform, a range of new government efficiency initiatives, and one of the largest transportation packages in modern history. Governor Pawlenty delivered record funding increases for classrooms and has undertaken an aggressive reform agenda, focusing on common-sense solutions for education, health care, agriculture, and crime. His law and undergraduate degrees are from the University of Minnesota. He worked as a prosecutor, served as a member of the Eagan City Council, and spent 10 years in the Minnesota House of Representatives, including four as majority leader.
