A native of western New York, Casey Wyant Remer began her career as a Teach For America corps member in Halifax, NC. Prior to joining the Hunt Institute in 2008, she conducted education policy research at the NC Department of Public Instruction and the Center for Child and Family Policy at Duke University. As a member of the Institute’s Program and Policy Team, Remer analyzes education policy and political issues, writes policy briefs and publications, and plans Institute convenings, including the Governors Education Symposium and the North Carolina Legislators Retreat. She earned her bachelor’s degree in government and law from Lafayette College in Pennsylvania and her Master of Public Policy degree from the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University. She lives in Durham, N.C., with her husband and young son.
