As a member of the Hunt Institute’s Program and Policy Team, Emily Loney contributes to the planning and coordination of the Institute’s major convening events including the North Carolina Legislators Retreat and the Governors Education Symposium. She also conducts research and analysis on teacher effectiveness issues and education policy activity in North Carolina. In 2011, she authored an issue of coNCepts, the Institute’s policy primer for North Carolina policymakers, focused on the alignment of standards and assessments between K-12 and higher education. Emily previously served as an intern at the Public School Forum of North Carolina, where she tracked local and national education policy activity and analyzed financial data for an annual report on North Carolina school finance. Emily earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, cum laude, from the University of Michigan and a Master of Public Policy from the Terry Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University.
