Michael’s career spans over 20 years in the education reform and not-for-profit sector – majority of that time spent at the Hunt Institute. Prior to joining the Institute, where he oversees program development and financial matters, Michael was the acting director of development for the New York City Department of Education where he created the World Trade Center School Relief Fund. He previously served on development teams at Columbia University and UCLA; held executive positions at the Anne & Kirk Douglas Foundation and the Sylvan at School in Los Angeles; and served on the start-up teams for Community Impact in Washington, D.C. and Teach For America. Michael began his career in the education reform sector as the founding director of Teach For America in Louisiana. He is a graduate of Columbia University and has two daughters in the Durham Public Schools.
