Shaping Rigorous, World-Class Education Standards
“As former governors, we believe a state-led approach to reform will yield a higher quality of education across the nation. Establishing a core set of academic standards will invite competition and innovation for achieving—and exceeding—them.”
- Former Governors James B. Hunt & Jeb Bush
The promise of consistent, shared and rigorous standards is now a reality for more than 40 states across the country. Four out of five young people across the country live in states that have voluntarily adopted the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Thanks to the hard work of states, young people - regardless of their background or where they live - will be taught to standards that once mastered, will prepare them for college and career success.
The CCSS are the foundation for an education system that demands excellent teaching, high-quality professional development, rigorous curricula, and dynamic assessments.
