About the Governors Education Symposium
The Governors Education Symposium, conceived by the James B. Hunt, Jr. Institute for Educational Leadership and Policy, is designed to bring the nation’s governors together to engage in candid dialogue about critical challenges facing education. Each session examines a variety of core education issues, incorporating information from nationally recognized experts. Governors have extensive opportunities to interact with these experts and share practices in their states. The Hunt Institute joined forces with the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices to co-host the 2011 Symposium and was pleased to have the generous financial support of The Atlantic Philanthropies, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The Broad Foundation, State Farm Insurance Companies and The Wallace Foundation.
