Getting Measurable Results
The Hunt Institute has staked a claim for American education. We will be satisfied with nothing less than a quality education for every child, preparing them for citizenship, college and work. To that end, we are building on a solid nonpartisan foundation to reach more governors, lieutenant governors, legislators and other education leaders.
Our accomplishments include:
- Over a 12-year period of nine Governors Education Symposia, The Hunt Institute has hosted 118 current and former governors, representing 44 states and territories. The flagship event was launched in 2002, and is the only convening of its kind in the country.
- Since its inception in 2001, The Hunt Institute has expanded its network of partners to more than 150 collaborators, individuals, funders, and organizations nationwide to co-host programs, events, research, and other projects.
- Facilitated 13 annual education retreats for North Carolina legislators on various education issues, including Read to Achieve, teacher effectiveness, turnaround schools, innovation and technology, assessments and accountability, and postsecondary completion. Since the Retreat’s inauguration in 2003, there have been 587 legislators convened. The Retreat is a model that has been touted by legislative leaders in other states, and interest has been expressed to widen the convenings reach across the nation.
- More than 1.3 million views of Hunt Institute education video series to gain insight into college and career readiness, math and science standards, English language learners, and other various education topics addressed from event presentations and panel discussions. Many of the videos provide helpful strategies and the best practices for parents, teachers, policymakers, business leaders, and other education advocacy leaders.
