2019 Missouri Legislators Retreat

On January 24-25, 2019, The Hunt Institute held the inaugural convening of Missouri legislators at the Missouri Legislators Retreat in Jefferson City, Missouri. Legislators from education- and workforce- related committees in both the House and the Senate joined key state education leaders, national experts, and the Hunt Institute team to explore pressing issues in Missouri P-20 education.

The Retreat agenda was developed in collaboration with the four Retreat co-chairs: Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe, Secretary of State and Hunt-Kean Leadership Fellow Jay Ashcroft, Senator Gary Romine (District 3), and Representative Kathryn Swan (District 147). Legislators engaged in conversations around the importance of high-quality early childhood education, strong school leadership, responsive teacher compensation systems, and innovative methods for preparing tomorrow’s workforce.
