April 3, 2019

Durham, N.C. – The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute just announced the addition of North Carolina Governor Jim Hunt to its speaker lineup at the Reagan Institute Summit on Education (RISE), held in Washington, D.C., on April 10-11, 2019.

Gov. Hunt will participate in a panel session entitled “Setting Audacious Goals.” The bipartisan panel will bring together key state and federal leaders who will discuss strategic education reform and explore the goals policymakers should strive toward as they look ahead into the future.

Gov. Hunt, who served as governor from 1977 to 1985 and 1993 to 2001, currently serves as chairman of the Hunt Institute, a national nonprofit organization that brings together people and resources that help build and nurture visionary leadership and mobilize strategic action for greater educational outcomes and student success.

“As a leader who transformed education in North Carolina and was the nation’s first ‘Education Governor,’ I know that Governor Hunt will lend a valuable perspective during this event,” said the Hunt Institute’s President & CEO Dr. Javaid Siddiqi. “The passion and political expertise he brings to these issues is something every leader should hear so they are better prepared to lead conversations in their states.”
