Board Vice Chairman
A former assistant to the chairman of the state Democratic Party, Tom Lambeth helped to manage the campaigns of Terry Sanford for governor and John F. Kennedy for president. He assisted in establishing North Carolina’s community college system and the N.C. School of the Arts. After becoming the executive director of the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation in 1978, more than $300 million was extended to organizations in every county in North Carolina. The funding encouraged programs in social justice, poverty, education, and the environment. Lambeth’s trustee service includes the Consolidated University of North Carolina, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the N.C. Public School Forum, Winston-Salem State University, and the UNC Center for Civil Rights. He is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill.
